Toddler Talk

A couple of random things Cora has been up to lately or has talked about recently in a funny way...

On clothing:
When she plays in her pool, she has to wear a "babing soup".

On bodily functions:
She seems to be quite proud of and fascinated with her ability to poop in the potty.  She likes to examine her work after her 'performance' and almost always exclaims "That's a BIG OL'POOP!"  The other night she made one that was about half an inch in diameter.  She seemed to be in shock and stammered for a minute "That's a bab- that's a bab- that's a bab' THAT'S A BIG OL' POOP!"

Learning new words:
When Cora takes a bath, I often recite my favorite poem from "In Living Color".  It goes like this:
I see your hiny
All bright and shiny!
You better hide it
before I bite it!

So, Cora was naming some of her body parts the other night, pointed to her bum and said "That's my shiny!"

Reminding us that she's not a baby anymore:
Tonight, Geron asked Cora to turn the dining room light off.  Without help or suggestion, she went to the table, pushed a chair to the wall, climbed up and flipped the switch. Then, she climbed down and pushed the chair back over to the table.

My little girl is getting so big!  I will try to post a pic of her soon...her shiny looks so cute in her babing soup!

Sweet Prayer

Tonight, Cora asked the blessing at dinner. We usually pray and have her repeat after us, but she went on her own this time. She said:

"Dear Jesus,
Thank you for this day. Thank you for my family. Keep YaYa safe...PaPa safe, too. Thank you for our blessings. Amen."

Happy Easter!

Holy Thursday Service

You would've laughed your pants off last night in our service!  I know, not what you would hear about a service, but let me tell you...We had no nursery at church last night, so Cora and Cohen sat with Samantha and Nanny Pat during the service.. They were the only little ones there.  Pastor Matt talked a little about the service and how people mourned when Jesus died and then said something about how we had hope because we knew what would happen on Easter...At that point, he paused and Cora hollered "The Easter Bunny!"  I had to pinch myself to keep from laughing and couldn't and made some kind of funny noise, embarassing.  Cora made other comments through the service.  At one point, Geron motioned for the audience to stand.  Cora turned to Samantha and said "Stand up!"  During a prayer, just as Pastor Matt was about to say "amen"< Cora sensed it coming and yelled "AMEN!"  And often, after Geron finished leading songs, or I finished playing, she would shout "YEA!"  We were so embarassed. We were supposed to leave in silence, and all the way out Cora said "I going to see the Easter Bunny.  I going to buy some candy." I guess she did good for her age, but next year I think we will have Preston and Patsy watch her or call Jan to keep her downstairs. Of course at that point, Cohen may be the one shouting.

A few more funnies from today

We were eating Barbecue with Cora tonight.  One of our sides was cole slaw and I was trying to get Cora to try it.  She's eaten it before and liked it a lot so I was kind of frustrated that she wasn't even tasting it tonight.  I ate a bite of mine and said "Mmmm. This is good."  Sometimes she'll try something if we give her a bite of our's.  So, I held my fork in front of her mouth and said "Here, try Mommy's."  She looked at me like I was blind and said "I have mine on my plate.  Try mine, Mommy. "  I took a bite of her's and said  "Oooh that's good."  She responded "Here, Mommy, try some more."

So the kid didn't want to eat it.  Okay.. We did eventually get her to try it by promising her a cookie after dinner.  For some reason, she wasn't into the slaw tonight.

Our other funny occurred during American Idol.  Kris Allen was singing "All She Wants to Do is Dance".  Cora grabbed her mic and pulled it to the middle of the floor.  She was dancing all over the place and started singing  "all she wants to do it.  All she wants to do it."  And, Geron said at one point she was singing "I don't want to do it."

Cute things Cora has said lately

After my mom and dad visited last week, my sister asked Mom for some cute things Cora had said.  So, I decided I would post a few for anyone who cares to know what my sweet, silly girl is up to lately.

When asked what she wanted to eat at Amigo's last week and having heard a few choices, she responded "a bich-a-ladoe"...Most people call this an ENCHILADA.  This was my mom's favorite.

After hitting me on the hand, I asked her "What did you just do?"  She looked down very solemnly and said "I need to go sit in time-out" and walked over and sat in her time-out chair.

She stood by as I was changing Cohen's diaper and Cohen peed on his clothes.  "You're going to half to sit in time-out, Cohen."

When she came home from day care today, Geron was getting her out of the car and told her she could carry her coloring picture or her bag of wet clothes (UGH!) into the house.  She said "I want that!" and pointed at the picture.  She started toward the garage and then pointed at the bag and said "No, I want that one" and traded with Geron.  As they approached the back door, she again said "No, I want that one!" And traded Geron for the picture.  Geron said "You're silly" to which she replied "I'm not a monkey."

She has also said and done some very sweet things lately.

Yesterday, we got to meet her Uncle Sean' new lady friend.  Cora actually spent most of the day with them.  So, last night, I asked Cora "Do you like Sarah?"  She said this. "Yes.  She's very nice."  No prompting there, people, just a sweet girl!

And then this afternoon, she was looking around for Cohen, who was in his bed taking a nap.  She and I tiptoed into their room and she climbed up on the side of his crib to peek at him.  His blanket was bunched up at the end of his bed.  So, she pulled it over to him and tried to lay it on him.  She said "Here's his blanky, Mommy. Put his blanky on him."

Cora is such a fun girl.  She keeps us in stitches and I really need to write all the things she does down in a book for me to enjoy, but for now I'll settle for posting a few on the blog every now and then.  Just now she climbed up in my lap, pointed at the screen and said "It's a Puter!"   And of course she wanted to know what this was all about.  Then she began asking me to show her where "O, C, R, and 2" were on the keyboard.  Gotta go for now...It's her bedtime. Looking forward to who and what she's going to ask Jesus to help tonight.

OH, just remembered, after pooping in the potty today, she pointed at one of her 'makings' in the potty and said "That poopy is a snowman.  It's a puppy!"
