the green-eyed monster

I must confess I've felt a bit jealous of the other girls I know who are
mommies-to-be. We've all hit the sixth month mark, so that means we're
feeling baby move often throughout the day. This is an incredible feeling,
mind you, but the other girls can actually see the movements on the outside!
And if they rest their hands on their tummies, baby will kick and they can
feel that on the outside, too. On Mother's Day, I felt a little movement,
but nothing since then. I want to have "alien baby belly" ! I want to look
down and see my shirt moving by some unseen force. I want my
kindergarteners to ask "Why is your tummy wiggling, Mrs.Brown?" I keep
telling myself I have too much fat between my skin and my womb and that's
why I haven't seen her move yet. I guess, while I wait, I can be thankful I
don't have one of those odd outie belly buttons. No offense, ladies, but
that is a part of pregnancy I can do without. In the meantime, I will keep
laying on the couch in the evenings and attempt the remote control test--lay
it on my tummy and watch for baby to kick it.

Don't worry; all too soon you'll be wishing you couldn't feel baby girl kicking and punching all the time, especially when she kicks you right in the bladder when there's no bathroom in sight!

I'm so happy for you and Geron, and you were absolutely gorgeous at Ann's wedding. Once your mommy-to-be-friends get a load of pictures of you in your knock-out dress, they'll be jealous of you!

if it makes you feel any better, i didn't feel molly moving until later on in my pregnancy. and yesterday, i went to the dr for my 12 week check-up, and when they couldn't hear the heartbeat, my dr just did another ultrasound. she told me that because of where my placenta is, it will be later this time too. so, you're not the only one, i promise! hope your baby starts moving around like crazy! but jenn's right. once baby starts kicking your bladder or sticking her feet in your ribs, you'll wish she'd STOP moving! :)

hey lydia, i found this blog on jenn's blog, which i discovered after ann's wedding...sigh...anyway, my kid is just over 3 months old so i remember very, very well what late pregnancy is like. i think the alien thing happened for me around 7 months, and yes, like jenn says, the little squirt LOVES to hit the bladder. sometimes they do little somersaults, and that's fun too.

and you KNOW susan didn't have too much fat over her belly to see it move at 6 months. Maybe baby girl is just more of a lady than the other babies. She's reserved. Like me.

"Ann" and "reserved" are not two words I would usually put together in the same sentence. LOL. Love you all!

Hope you all have a wonderful day today!

ann, ann, so prim and proper. Right :)

i managed to gain 42 pounds when i was pregnant, and that was hard work, let me tell you. I was out-eating my husband. It was also much more than what was recommended by "What to Expect When You're Expecting." but nine pounds of that was solid baby, thankyouverymuch. stupid pregnancy books. also, stupid people who thought it was really, really funny to say "gawd, you're huge! are you sure you're not due next week?!"

if anyone does that to you, just give 'em the evil eye.

Let me just say, lydia, for the record, that you have to be one of the CUTEST pregnant people i have ever ever seen. And, in response to susan's post, her dad told me once in kroger that she was having a hard time because she was getting so huge, and I couldn't wrap my mind around that image. I thought maybe 15 pounds, maybe. 42 is unimaginable. Congratulations, susan, for surviving that (it's still a great mystery to me).

OMG! It must have been mostly water weight, because you look ab-fab, Suze! You're baby's only 3 months, and you look just like you did in high school. How have you lost it so fast?

I weighed a whopping 250 pounds when Jamie was born. I was on very strict bedrest for the last three months. I was only allowed to sit up to eat and get up to go potty or shower. I gained about 80 pounds during the pregnancy - 60 of it was gained during the last three months!

I'm still carrying around about 40-50 pounds that I shouldn't be. I used to tell people it was "baby fat." Now that Jamethan is not a baby anymore, it isn't baby fat. It's "Mommy fat". Maybe this will be the summer that I can finally get motivated to actually use my Bally's membership!

I'll be sure to keep you informed on my blog!

And, Lydia, I agree with Ann. You are the cutest pregnant person.
