Let the spoiling begin!

I'm so excited!! Geron's mom and dad just brought us over the baby bedding for our nursery.  We chose--I should say Geron chose because I was going a little more of a blue shade of green--the perfect shade of paint to match.  We're so ready to put things up that we may go get the crib this weekend.  Anyway, just wanted to let you know the spoiling has begun--actually it begun in Georgetown, I think, because mom  and Dad's house is quickly filling up with baby stuff--toys, hats, bassinet, etc.  Either way, she doesn't stand a chance--or maybe we don't.

Remember, those toys and things are for the baby to play with - not you guys!

BTW - what were the results of your glucose test? You never said.

Love ya!

Let all the really loud toys stay at the grandparents! That was a lesson I learned quickly! ha ha

Still waiting for the test results. I think they'll call today since I called late yesterday. I'll let you know--but I'm guessing things are fine. I have a big banana split last night and half a box of gobstoppers and nothing crazy happened, so I think I'm okay---just fat.

good job on leaving half the gobstoppers!

were they EVERLASTING Gobstoppers??? you don't have to eat the whole box with them! The banana split sounds really good right now. I am getting hungry and it's only 8:53AM! not a good thing...

ha ha, holly! you need to start eating a bigger breakfast! you deserve a banana split for breakfast, if you want one! (i should start eating those for breakfast...might make me less tempted throughout the day if i eat ice cream in the morning...)

THIS grandparent also knows about loud toys--it hasn't been that long since I was a parent! I also know about letting the batteries run down and removing them.

My friend Sam has a toddler. We often give Alex noisy stuff. His daddy says he doesn't mind it, because it means his little boy is able to play with it! (At least that's what he USED to say--now he is removing batteries, too) That is especially meaningful to him, since Alex is borderline autistic.

By the way, how about Nufrhou for a name?

One trick you'll learn quickly - a couple of weeks after she gets a new toy (this works up until about age 7), hide the toy. Then later on, hide a different toy and replace it with the first toy you hid. Keep on rotating out all the toys every couple of weeks (or every month, whatever works best for you). In this way, baby feels like she always has something new, and you don't have so many toys cluttering up the house!

we would box up toys of Bryan's for several months, then on a rainy day when he was "bored" get them out and replace them with toys he was tired of. In a few months, switch them again, and it's like Christmas all over again. we also started leaving some toys that the grandparents gave at their house so that we did not have to bring things with us when we visited (it also helped with the clutter at our house!). as for noisy toys... my dad gave Bryan a toy ambulance when he was 2 that sounded like a real one (and was as loud as a real one). At the time, I was working nightshift, so I slept during the day. Imagine my waking up thinking that an ambulance was pulling into our driveway when in actuality, Bryan and his daddy were playing ambulance outside the bedroom door! That toy went to Papa's house SOON thereafter!
